Lynn Ponto-Peterson
Batesville, AR
I have been a professional artist for over 40 years. I have a BFA from Wesleyan University, and worked as a graphic designer (magazine ad design) and illustrator for almost two decades for various companies and freelance. I concentrated full time on my fine art career in 2000. I have taught art privately and judged various art shows throughout my career. I have collectors worldwide and have painted for celebrities and heads of state. This has included gifts for the late Queen Elizabeth through the State Department where I currently have a freelance contract to provide hand-painted gift items for the White House. I work almost exclusively in Gouache(Opaque Watercolor) and am a miniature (under 24 square inches) and Small Works (under 100 square inches) artist. 90% of my work falls into those categories. I concentrate on still life compositions with a small number of wildlife and figural pieces each year. I have won numerous first place and best-in-show awards at various art shows throughout the US and was selected to exhibit in Russia at the world exhibition of miniature art.
My philosophy on art is to follow your passions as an artist, unwavering of criticisms and set-backs, as they are many in the art industry. If you paint what you know and love, concentrate on always bettering your technique with each painting, and never look over your shoulder at trends and fads in the art world, you will succeed on your path in fine art. Art is as individual as each soul and should be celebrated as such.
